How to Connect with a Phone Interpreter
Follow these simple steps to connect with a professional interpreter quickly and efficiently.
Connect with a Phone Interpreter
- Dial your proprietary number or (800)–225–5254)
- When the operator answers, provide:
- If you need a third-party dial-out
- Your customer code
- The language you need
- Any additional custom call requirements (if applicable)
- The operator will locate an interpreter and connect you promptly.
General Tips for a Successful Call
- If you don’t know what language you need, ask! Our operators are trained in language identification.
- In the rare event you cannot access services via your proprietary number or our main line, use our alternate number: (503) 484–2425
- If the interpreter disconnects during your session, press 9 to reconnect to the CLI call center.
Third-Party Dial-Out Recommendations
- If you need the operator to dial a third party, let them know before the interpreter is connected. You’ll need to provide the number to the operator.
- Once the interpreter joins, you can tell the interpreter who to ask for.
- Before dialing out to the third party, relay the message the interpreter should share if voicemail is reached.
- To add a third party after the interpreter is already on the line, press the pound sign (#).
