CLI to support vital interpreting association through conference sponsorship

PORTLAND, Ore. (March 5, 2015)Certified Languages International (CLI), a Portland, Ore.-based full-service language company, is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring and exhibiting at California Healthcare Interpreting Association (CHIA)’s 15th Annual Education Conference. CHIA’s conference, A Celebration of Language Access, is a two-day event set for March 6-7, 2015 at the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey, CA.

“Supporting CHIA through sponsorship is one of the ways we’re able to contribute to the greater language community,” said Kevin Cunningham, CLI’s Manager of Sales for Healthcare, who will be among the company’s representatives exhibiting this year. “CHIA’s conferences are always a great opportunity for us to forge relationships with healthcare interpreters and other members of the language service industry.”

CHIA’s 2015 conference will host an array of exhibitors, panels and workshops covering everything from HIPAA and interpreter ethics to medical interpreting in emergency situations. A significant theme in this year’s conference program is emerging technologies that are changing the landscape of interpreting. Stratus Video, CLI’s partner in providing an on-demand video remote interpreting solution, is facilitating one such workshop on March 7, titled “The Coming Wave: New Technologies May Disrupt Interpreting.”

About California Healthcare Interpreting Association

California Healthcare Interpreting Association (CHIA) is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality and availability of language services in the delivery of healthcare. The organization was founded as the California Healthcare Interpreters Association in 1996 by group of interpreters and program managers. The name was changed in 2003 to the California Healthcare Interpreting Association to better reflect CHIA’s mission of serving the public interest and interests of LEP patients, rather than serving as a strictly professional association of interpreters. CHIA’s diverse membership includes interpreters, physicians and other healthcare providers, hospitals, interpreting agencies and language-service companies, educators, and government policymakers.
